After seven seasons, Fox moving away from 'Melrose'Web posted on: LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- What will fans of "Melrose Place" do on Monday nights? Actually, there aren't many fans left, according to ratings. And that's why Fox has opted to pull the plug on the sexy drama depicting the lives of a group of residents of a Los Angeles apartment complex. "'Melrose Place' is one of my all-time favorite shows," said executive producer Aaron Spelling in a statement announcing the decision to end the show after seven seasons. "I will miss it and everyone involved very much." Once the talk of television with its steamy cast and intriguing -- and sometimes unbelievable -- plot lines, "Melrose" has fallen on hard times over the past year. This season, the show has averaged a 4.8 rating and 13 share in the key adults 18-49 demographic, down two shares from last season's 5.8/15. It was ranked No. 67 in the latest Nielsen ratings. In the statement, Fox said "Melrose Place" would be remembered "as a pop culture icon of the '90s." The air date for the final episode has yet to be announced. Associated Press and Reuters Limited contributed to this report.
